Kern County ADA Conference | Celebrating 33 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Independent Living Center of Kern County (ILCKC) is celebrating the 33rd Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act by hosting a conference at the DoubleTree Hotel, 3100 Camino Del Rio Court, Bakersfield, CA on Wednesday, July 26 from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

On July 26, 1990, The ADA was signed into law by George H.W. Bush. This important civil rights law prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in various areas of life. These areas include jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private businesses open to the public. The purpose of the conference is to provide resources and information on disability-related issues and laws accessible to businesses and the community.

The conference will host speakers from the National Council on Disability; Disability Rights California; U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Civil Rights Division; and the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division.
