In response to the Borel Fire in the Kern River Valley the Kern Community Foundation has activated the Borel Fire Relief Fund. The fund may receive gifts from individuals, corporations, and private foundations. The Foundation has a history of helping the Kern River Valley community and will be able to deliver monetary assistance efficiently and effectively. First and foremost, the fund will provide assistance to communities impacted by the Borel Fire. The focus of the fund is to provide assistance in the areas of resettlement, rebuilding, and infrastructure within the affected area.

How can I make a donation?

Credit Card Donations

**The Foundation is not able to assume credit card fees; to avoid this, donors may mail a check.

Nonprofits

Nonprofits may request funding from the Borel Fire Relief Fund by filling out the Borel Fire Assistance Request Form through the Foundation’s Online Grant Portal. Applications are open during emergencies, and grants will be awarded on a rolling basis.

Evacuation Center: Residents under an evacuation warning or order can go to the Tehachapi Education Center located at 126 S. Snyder Ave., Tehachapi.

Animal Service: Animal Services are available to assist in sheltering companion animals at the center. Contact the American Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767.
