The Day of Remembrance Fund at Kern Community Foundation was established to oversee the consolidation and distribution of funds contributed by Kern County residents to support Kern County victims of the shootings at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival on October 1, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Our goal is to provide resources in a responsible and efficient way. To begin the eligibility process, we are asking Kern County residents who are victims and survivors of the Las Vegas tragedy to provide general contact information using our online automated platform. Once the information is submitted, we will provide individuals with the protocols governing the distribution of resources.
Click on this link to access our online platform. All contact information must be received by Friday, February 16, 2018.
We’re excited to introduce a coloring sheet featuring Give Big Kern’s Official Mascot, Billy the Give Big Goat, that is not only fun for the kiddies, but also contains useful information such as the givebigkern.org web address, and social media handle @GIVEBIGKERN, for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram–that way you’ll always know where to find Billy, and where to go for news related to #GIVEBIGKERN.
Please feel free to download an 8.5″ x 11″ Billy coloring sheet to share with your little ones. (Click here to download.)
Help Billy spread the word to others so they’ll know to “Give B-i-i-i-g!” on May 1.
A groundbreaking report from the California Association of Nonprofits called “Causes Count: The Economic Power of California’s Nonprofit Sector,” reveals that in our state, nonprofits make up the fourth largest industry by employment (generating some 1 million jobs and supporting an additional 800,000 indirectly); contribute 15% of California’s Gross State Product; and enjoy greater workforce diversity than the adult civilian workforce as a whole. By supporting local nonprofits, you are helping to stimulate growth and progress throughout California. Click here to access the report, which can be downloaded in pdf format.
Our contributed article to the Kern Business Journal talks about the Kern Alliance of Nonprofits and Kern Community Foundation’s efforts to strengthen Kern County community based organizations through training, networking, and support. Read the article here.
