Jeff Pickering presents grant check to Jimmie Soto, Executive Director and Stacy Sanders, Board of Directors

My last couple of date nights with my wife Stephanie started with visits to some good people and great local charitable organizations, Independent Living Center of Kern County and Ridge Route Museum and Historical Society.

The Latest KernHealth Now! Grant: Independent Living Center of Kern County was awarded a $6,000 grant from KernHealth Now!, a grantmaking initiative of Kern Community Foundation. The grant will support the organization's California Community Transitions (CCT) program and provide access to the organization's services to underserved residents of rural Kern County.  Funding for this grantmaking initiative was made possible with support from The California Wellness Foundation.

Lots Happening Up on the Ridge:  Following the completion of their organization's profile on the Foundation's online Nonprofit Search, the Board of Directors of the Ridge Route Museum and Historical Society hosted a site visit for my wife Stephanie and me. We were treated to a crisp, clear evening in Frazier Park with a night sky full of stars. This organization's board of directors is full of "sparkplug leaders."

Megan Boynton Joins Foundation Team: We are fortunate to have a great team of local philanthropy experts on staff at the Foundation. Please join me in welcoming Megan Boynton as Manager of Nonprofit Outreach. We met Megan last year as a volunteer with a local nonprofit organization and are excited to have her on board. Read more about her background and professional experience here.
