Pickering Kids Get "Plane Crazy" with Mojave Transportation Museum, The Bakersfield Californian Says We Are a "Hit"

On Friday, the Foundation received kudos in The Bakersfield Californian; I am humbled by this recognition, and as we start Thanksgiving week, even more grateful for our community's generosity.

"Plane Crazy": On Saturday I took the kids out to the Mojave Air and Space Port for "Plane Crazy Saturday." The monthly event is sponsored by the Mojave Transportation Museum, and gives kids and families an up-close and personal view of various types of aircraft and the people who fly them.  I was invited by Bill Deaver, the Museum's Founder and President, and had the privilege of introducing the kids to Dick Rutan, commander of the 1986 Voyager 'round-the-world flight.

We're a "Hit": Kern Community Foundation wrapped up national Community Foundation Week with a nice mention in today's edition of The Bakersfield Californian. On Friday, the Foundation received more kudos in the editorial "Private philanthropy is pulling weight in Kern."  I am humbled by this recognition, and as we start Thanksgiving week, even more grateful for our community's generosity.
