Be Great! Kids Across Kern County Are Counting On It
Kristen A. Beall, Ed.D.
Be great. A message that jumps right off the screen when you log on to www.bgclubsofkerncounty.org.
Be great. Visit one of the 39 Boys and Girls Clubs sites throughout Kern County and witness this message being delivered to more than 4,300 school-age youth each year.
Be great. Do what I did and join Andre, a bright, confident high school senior, on a tour of the Youth Center in Bakersfield and realize that "being great" is not just a slogan. "Being great" is a way of life promoted by our Boys and Girls Clubs that fosters a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness and positive influence so that kids can build self-confidence and self-esteem.
Be great. Stop what you're doing right now and take 3 minutes to watch a video through Kern Community Foundation's online Nonprofit Search. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Kern County is one of the very first organizations to complete an online profile. You'll see testimonials from Board members, club members and parents alike; all who see the tremendous impact like this one has for our community's quality of life.
Be great. If you like what you see, do what you can today to support the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kern County. Executive Director, Zane Smith, and Resource Development Director, Maggie Cushine, can offer ideas where you can provide the greatest assistance.
Be great. Great kids like Andre are counting on it.
