Kern Community Foundation Announces CEO

Chairman of the Board Judi McCarthy announced that Jeffrey R. Pickering has been selected as President and CEO of the Kern Community Foundation (KCF), effective April 5, 2010.
Describing the incoming CEO McCarthy stated, “The Board is enthusiastic about introducing Jeff Pickering to the community.” Jeff brings the skill set and experience necessary to lead the Kern Community Foundation to the next level of service to donors, nonprofits, and the Kern Community.” From 2004-2008, Jeff Pickering served as Vice President for Philanthropic Services at the Community Foundation of Central Florida (CFCF) in Orlando. With his guidance, CFCF’s assets grew from $26 million to $55 million, 200 named funds were added, and $12 million in grants were distributed. In addition, Pickering developed and launched the foundation’s Professional Advisor Network and also led an initiative to raise CFCF’s public profile as a home for local philanthropists.
Pickering’s career includes leadership roles as a grantmaker, administrator, and fundraiser. He holds a Masters degree in Leadership Studies from the University of San Diego, a Bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of South Florida, and a certificate in management from the Crummer Graduate School of Management at Rollins College. Pickering is also an alumnus of the Vincentian Service Corps.
