The Women’s and Girls’ Fund is seeking community nominations for the 2017 Judi McCarthy Women’s Philanthropy Award.

Nomination Review Process

The Judi McCarthy Women’s Philanthropy Award committee will review all nominations and select the 2017 recipient in early March.  This award will be presented at the Women’s and Girls’ Fund Annual Luncheon on April 26, 2017.  The committee is responsible for the final selection.  In the unlikely event that the committee feels that no nominees have met the criteria, the awards may be withheld.  

The Woman's Philanthropy Award

Criteria
  • Nominee must have demonstrated a philanthropic spirit through personal giving and/or inspiring others to support charitable organizations.
  • Nominee must have exhibited a long-term commitment to and a passion for bettering the lives of Kern County residents.
  • Nominee should have a focus on seeking solutions to a problem rather than easing the symptoms.
  • Nominee should inspire others to take a leadership role in philanthropy.

In addition to a completed nomination form, the following attachment is a requirement for consideration:

A one-page summary about the nominee that addresses the nomination criteria including examples of how the nominee has helped improve the quality of life in Kern County.  Please do not send a resume, verification of submitted information is routinely confirmed.

The Young Woman Philanthropy Award

If you know of a deserving young lady between 16 and 21 years of age, who meets the following criteria, please consider nominating her for this highly-regarded award by February 27, 2017.  This is not a monetary scholarship but a prestigious award for outstanding philanthropic community service. 

Criteria
  • Nominee must be 16 to 21 years old and be eligible for extra-curricular activities if attending school.
  • Nominee must have demonstrated a philanthropic spirit through personal giving and/or leadership in inspiring others to support charitable organizations.
  • Nominee should have a focus on seeking solutions to a problem rather than easing the symptoms.
  • Nominee should exhibit a commitment to and a passion for bettering the lives of Kern County residents.

In addition to the completed nomination form,  a personal summary about the nominee that addresses the nomination criteria including examples of how the nominee has helped improve the quality of life in Kern County is required.  Please do not send a resume, verification of submitted information is routinely confirmed.
