GIVE BIG KERN Public Announcement

Join Kern Community Foundation and numerous local nonprofits as we explore the power of community giving through GIVE BIG KERN. This is a county wide day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, companies and nonprofits to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity. GIVE BIG KERN is being held on May 3rdin conjunction with Give Local America day to inspire people to give back in impactful ways to charities and causes. This online day of giving will allow donors and volunteers to give to the causes they care about. In real time, will capture the number of donors, total amount for dollars raised, and volunteer hours pledged, with prize grants and match dollars awarded throughout the day.

GIVE BIG KERN Collective Event Schedule:

5:00am- 9:00am: Morning Kick Off 

The Liberty Bell (corner of Truxtun Ave & Chester Ave.)

Featuring Mayor Hall and Kristen Barnes (President and CEO, Kern Community Foundation) from 5:45am-6:15am. Participating Nonprofits will be in attendance the entire morning to raise awareness and celebrate GIVE BIG KERN.

5:00pm-9:00pm: Evening Celebration

Prairie Fire at The Padre Hotel (1702 18th St.)

Open to Nonprofit Participants and the entire community, this is a celebration of our community. There will be a surprise grant available at this time to encourage donors to step in and get involved.

The community can get involved and support by:

  • Giving through  
  • Sharing about your gift with friends, family and coworkers AND challenging them to give.
  • Pledge volunteer hours to support your favorite cause. 

Reporting the Results

Visit throughout the day for real-time fundraising totals. Final totals will be visible after midnight. An additional email will be issued late in the evening to update pledged volunteer hours and additional information.
